Modem problems

After several years trouble-free my Gateway PC fails to recognise the modem (Gateway) at startup. Deleting and reinstalling solves the problem but has to be done at each startup. Is this a sign of modem failure or could some setting have been corrupted.

Have you checked in Device Manager that your modem is working properly?

Also check its Diagnostics and other parameters.

You should also check that the modem is seated properly (I'm presuming it's a PCI rather than an ASR type).

It could be worth finding out if there's a more recent driver or .ini file for your modem.
