Modem or Modem/Router

I am using a Speedtouch 330 modem. Will I get faster speeds with an up to date Modem/Router. I have no need at the moment for wireless but would get this type if necessary.

It depends on the speed of your ADSL broadband service.

USB 1.1 transfers data at 12Mbps so, when your ADSL connection gets close to this speed or exceeds it, the USB connection will be restricting your speed. A "wired" connection to a router will run at 100Mbps and an 802.11g "wireless" one at about 30Mbps in practice, although its nominal speed is 54Mbps.

Thanks for that. I have USB2.0 in my computer, or are you saying that the 330 is a USB 1.1 device?

As far as I'm aware, USB modems tend to be USB 1.1 devices, rather than USB 2.0

Rather stupid of me,I have just realised that I have USB info prog. on my computer.
You are indeed correct it is a 1.1 device.
I think I may be getting a modem/router soon!
Thanks, I will give it a tick.
