Modem not working on new system

Hello everyone I have just built a new system with the following componants:
MSI KT4VL 6712 motherboard with onboard lan
AMD XP2400+ processor
Seagate barracuda 20GB hard drive (out of my old system with Windows 98se over written onit)
Samsung CD
Samsung DVD
PCTELL K56 FLEX PCI Modem (also out of my old system)
The trouble is I can't get the modem to work, device manager says it is working fine, but if I try to dial up it says the system can't comunicate with the modem. I noticed that the modem says it is in COMS port 5 now it used to be in 1 or 2, is that the problem ? how do I change it to a differant port ? the board has onboard lan but I have dissabled it in the BIOS.

Remove all references to the Modem from Device Manager etc and reboot the comp and reinstall. You will need the drivers disc that came with the Modem or download from the net.
