Modem firmware upgrade woes

I am currently trying to upgrade the firmware on my modem. I know to type click here into my browser and connect to the modem with an ethernet cable, but the only way I can connect to it is by using another modem to connect to the internet, then changing the LAN cable over to the modem to be upgraded. Then type the address above. This connects sucessfully, but the problem is that after a minute, my browser realises its disconnected, and trys to reconnect, and stops me in the middle of the upgrade process. I can`t get the job done in the time. (Note its AOL 9VR browser).Am I connecting to the modem correctly, is there another way?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Found the solution. Use internet explorer browser, not the AOL 9VR browser, which automatically trys to reconnect. Only took me 3 hours, to work it out!
