Modem disconnects when printing

If I print a page from the internet my connection is disconnected any ideas?

What printer and modem type? At a guess it's probably your Printer Status utility causing the problem.

I have a Canon Multipass C70 and the modem is an old (2yrs) one I think an Askey or Smartlink.

Unfortunately I can't narrow it down from the info you supply. I take it it's a USB multifunction printer and everything else works fine. It could be many things. It's possible that your phone line is to close to the printer cable and when you send to print, line noise is being created sufficient to disconnect you. Try lowering the modem speed and see if it cures it. It could still be the Status utility, it may also be the fax facility causing the prob.

Incidentally does it come up with a "spool32 error". If so then try
1. Click Start, point to Programs, and then click MultiPASS Desktop Manager.

2. On the File menu, click Preferences.

3. Click the Exclusive Port Control check box to clear it, and then click
OK.

4. Restart your computer.

However, just stabbing in the dark with the info supplied. Somebody else may have encountered the prob before and have the answer. Heres hoping.
