mobo PC Chips M848ALU not reading HDD correctly

Just installed a maxtor 200GB HDD. cloned it and work fine. But somehow when i looked at the BIOS setup info, on the Standard CMOS setup screen, the parameters for my HDD are all blank.

When run maxblast 4.2.1, it says disk has 97621 cylinders. But when i paused during POST,the bios detects there are only 65535 cylinders.........even when i tried to changed the figure manually(srt AUTO to USER), it wont let me.

Windows XP Pro SP2 seems to detect it OK......whould that mean in future i wont be able to go beyond 65535 cylinders.

Does anybody has any idea?

Maxblast "changes" the actual drive parameters to fool the BIOS so that it can use a hard drive with a capacity larger than the BIOS can normally use.

That's why the parameters you see look odd.
