Hi

I have an e-machines pc running windows xp, I have tried two different mobile broadband dongles, one from 3 and one from T-Mobile can set them up perfectly and receive a signal but as soon as I go to connect the pc switches off and restarts? I tried switching off the Avast Anti-virus before connecting in case it was conflicting with it but still does the same. Can anyone help?

You say both '3' and T-Mobile do the same thing. What did '3' and T-Mobile say when you told them?

MAke / model of machine, Operating system?

Look in Device manager under USB and check you have something like "Enhanced Controller" installed.

This can happen if you are using the dongle in a USB1.1 port instead of a USB2 port.

While you're in there, click on the tab marked 'Power Management' and untick the box marked...
'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'
