Can you have a look at the following and see if you can work it out and tell me how to rectify the problem. It appears shortly after windows starts but before it has finished loading up the task bar.

“SmartBridgeAlerts motive.exe Get process image file name w could not be located in the dynamic link library PSAPI.DLL.”

BT and some NTL broadband users have experienced error message like "SmartBridge Alerts:-Alert BT Help Notifier.exe (or MotiveSB.exe for NTL) Entry Point Not Found The procedure entry point GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library PSAPI.DLL"

This relates to the BT (or NTL) desktop helper. The simplest way to deal with it is to uninstall it if you do not use it or take it out of your start up list. The program name will be something like Motive Communications or Motive SB.

Alternatively, 1. Navigate to the installation location for SmartBridge via My Computer (\Program Files\Alert BT Help Notifier.exe (or Motive SBexe.)
2. Find PSAPI.DLL and rename it to something like PSAPIOLD.DLL
3. Reboot the system

The program will find the new PSAPI.DLL in the \Windows\System32 directory and function normally.

To disable a start up program click here
Or, if you have Spybot Search and Destroy use their start up control tool.

Just a shot in the dark but if you are using NTL then it could be tied up with Broadband Medic and Motive is a program which reports back to the States.
It might also be found under C:\Programs\Motive.
Look in Start\ Run \Msconfig and, if you have Broadband Medic starting on boot-up, remove the tick so that it doesn't start.
You can always start it up when (if) needed.

It is in fact the desktop helper used by BT, NTL and others but is written by Motive Communications. Until BT and others get around to doing what they should have done when IE7 was in Beta it will show up as the error.
