I notice almost every piece of hardware that uses an SD or MMC memory card states either will fit, and usually in the spec you see "SD/MMC".

HOwever, I am considering purchase of a Nokia 9300 or Nokia 9500, and I notice in the specs I have seen on-line for this phone only "MMC-Card" stated. Does this mean an SD Card will not fit?

Much obliged for an answer, thank you.

Secure Digital and MultiMedia Cards are, generally, slot fit compatible but it doesn't necessarily mean that either may be used; the actual dimensions too are very slightly different.

Secure Digital cards are encrypted and and much faster than MMC cards in operation.

Normally a product that uses SD cards (such as a digital camera) will come with advice in the manual as to whether both SD and MMC cards may be used or just SD.

If you download the .pdf files for Secure Digital and MultiMedia Cards from:

you'll learn more about the two types.
