Please don't think I am being facetious, this is a genuine question!

I am using a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 740SB monitor which has a superbright setting to make the screen appear a lot lighter.

Is it OK to use the monitor at this setting all the time, or is there a danger that it would wear the monitor out quicker?

I ran one in that mode for 8 years without an issue until it went into the loft when we got a TFT monitor. Try it. If it goes pop you can have ours.

Thank you for the kind offer!

Mine is coming up on 10 years old, but it had to go back for repair while under guarantee! Up to now I have been scared to run it in SB mode in case it conked out, but I will be doing so now after your post!

I brought a spare CRT monitor when I moved here a year ago, but it was too heavy for me to put up in the loft, so I had no alternative but to take it to the council dump, more's the pity!
