Missing Start-up "Chime" plus a "Framework" Error

  RobbieRoberts 23:41 21 Jul 05

I use Windows XP Home Edition with SP2 installed, but since that installation I have lost the Start-up Chime/Fanfare & also the closing down one. Also on start-up I get the below Error message:-
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\mscorwks.dll could not be loaded ---- this appears twice during the booting process.
My security programmes (I, after all live in the U.K. and so, use the "proper" spelling!) are 1)AVG Free edition, 2)ZoneAlarm Pro and 3)Spy Bouncer.
The computer still works, but lacks the usual beeps when I do something "not quite right", so it would be nice if I could correct these errors.
