When I look in Control Panel-Sounds-then sound tab the default beep program event is missing.
How do I get it back?

What OS??

If you have installation disc, reinstall over the top to reload any missing files.

Operating system is Windows XP Professional

Click once on Default Sound, and the Browse box will become active. Click Browse, choose the sound you want from the Media folder (or any other WAV file on your drive).

Press the right-facing arrow next to the Browse button (after selecting a sound) to 'preview' it.

Try changing the sound scheme, rebooting, then changing it back again.

think he means the actual event is missing from the list, not just the sound from the event.

You are correct, changing the Theme brought the missing event back, thanks very much for your help everybody.
