Missing microphone.

A friend of mine, that I chat with, on Skype, appears to no longer have a functioning mic, or at least I can't hear her (could a couple of days ago). I've checked my end, and seems OK. Is there anything I can suggest she try (she's even less tech savvy than I am). Alternatively, as her webcam is pretty rubbish, anyway, can I get her a reasonably cheap webcam, that also includes a mic?

Skype can sometimes lose the settings for the mic. Open Skype - Tools - Options and on Audio settings check that the correct mic is selected.

Check too that it isn't muted. Right click sound icon in system tray and choose recording devices. Properties and levels tab will allow you to check.
