Missing Megahertz

Greeting Forum members

I have recently installed a couple of demo versions of William Latham's organic art screensavers. However, to my surprize when running these screensavers I notice that the system information of the demo says my 550Mhz PIII is 548Mhz. Why is it showing my processor inaccurately?
I am running W98, 128RAM, PIII 550Mhz, and Direct X 8.1.
I would be grateful for any advice.

Thanks in advance

I just checked my System Information. I've got a 1Ghz AMD processor, but it says that it is 1002Mhz.

This of course is a modern trait to advanced chipset design.

It can be explained on several levels.

The most common is the The Alignment of Kenetic Induction Nonparity Geoprocessor.

Also high on the list is the common ailment of Thermal Heat Expansion.

An uncommon design fault may give you Processor Integrated System Slowdown.

So do a search for The Alignment of Kenetic Induction Nonparity Geoprocessor.or it's common abreviation T.A.K.I.N.G.

Of course Thermal Heat Expansion. is T.H.E.

And do not forget the Processor Integrated System Slowdown. which of course is commonly known as P.I.S.S.

Do a google search for this and you will be amazed at the hits.

There is not much speed missing, if your PC performs good enough then why worry.

It could be the Mobo settings but I wouldnt bother for so little more speed.
