Missing Media Center and IE

  olyman 14:11 27 Nov 07

Just had a Firefox update and find that Windows Media Center and Internet Explorer have gone from my Desktop and Start Menu. A search failed to locate them.
A Spyware Doctor search removed a high risk Item.
Unsure whether its Firefox or Spyware to blame.
Has anyone had problems with this new Firefox update?
I couldn't shut down my computer and had to use manual switch off.
I'm using Vista.
I'll try System Restore later but thought I'd ask first.

This from PCA to-day.click here I don't use Firefox so cannot help you with your problem,But looking at your thread it may stop others from downloading the up-date until they find it is safe to do so.

System Restore did the trick.
Puzzle is that Firefox update history is still showing today's security update. It might just be the log of course but that begs the question , do updates just look in the log to check if programs are up to date. If so System Restores could leave a hole in security......correction Firefox has just notified the update! Strongly recommended but I think I'll wait a while before chancing it again.
Trouble is that the high risk spyware reported by SpywareDoctor might not have got in had Firefox been fixed!!

Tried updating Firefox again with no ill effects.
The problem may have been malware or another Vista glitch - XP was oh so stable!
