Win XP (Build 2600)

I have tried to install the IPX/SPX protocol through network connections, LAN connection properties, but when I select protocol IPX/SPX is missing, in fact it's empty.

try installing sp2 and see if it corrects the problem.

According to my "Dummies" networking book, IPX/SPX was only required for a Netware Server, and TCP/IP is the preferred protocol, and should already be installed.

If like me you still use NETBEUI, although it is not listed, it is on the XP CD:-

On the XP CD navigate to Valueadd\MSFT\Net\NetBEUI, and copy Nbf.sys onto the Hard Drive- Windows\System32\Drivers folder..

On the XP CD navigate to Valueadd\MSFT\Net\NetBEUI, and copy Netnbf.inf onto the Hard Drive- Windows\Inf folder (This folder is a hidden folder and therefore you need to choose tools :Folder options, View, Show Hidden Files & Folders.

You should now find the NetBEUI protocol listed as available.

Hope that this helps
