Can someone please explain why my ?Empty Temporary Internet Files Folder when browser is closed? check box is missing from Internet Options ? Advanced.

It was there a couple of days ago but for some reason it has gone walkies. I have carried out the following with no success;

Ran the repair IE6 from Control Panel ? Add Remove etc.

Re-Installed IE6 with replacing all files.

Ran System File Check.

If anyone can explain why this option has disappear but more importantly how to re-instate this option I would be most grateful.

Thanks in advance

It may be worth clicking on 'Restore Defaults'. it possibly won't help, but it's worth a try

Is it just that check box thats missing?

Andsome - Yes, I also tried your suggestion, forgot to include this. It did not make any difference

Jester2K II - It is the actual check box and also the wording, the complete instruction has for some reason just vanished.

It's been removed from the registry. Go to HKCU\Software\MS\Windows\ShellNoRoam\MUICache and insert it in the correct place, after backing up the registry, of course!

If BurrWalnut is right then this shold fix it

OPen Notepad

copy and paste the following in

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\MUICache]
"@inetcplc.dll,-4750"="Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed"

(bet thats goes wrong)

Save it as fix.reg

then double click it to run.

Option should return?

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\MUICache]

"@inetcplc.dll,-4750"="Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed"

With no blank line between the HKEY_CURRENT_USER and "@inetcplc.dll lines,.

Or e-mail me for the file.

REGEDIT 4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AdvancedOptions\CRYPTO\CACHE_FLUSH]

"RegPath"="SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Internet Settings\\Cache"
"Text"="Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed"
"PlugUIText"="@inetcplc.dll,-4750"
"Type"="checkbox"
"CheckedValue"=dword:00000000
"UncheckedValue"=dword:00000001
"ValueName"="Persistent"
"DefaultValue"=dword:00000001
"HKeyRoot"=dword:80000001
"HelpID"="iexplore.hlp#50293"

Save as fix2.reg or e-mail me for the file.

  Jester2K II 14:49 09 Oct 03

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AdvancedOptions\CRYPTO\CACHE_FLUSH]

Thanks Burrwalnut & Jester2K.

I am at work at the moment so will try your solutions tonight.

Will let you know the outcome.

One last thing, as Jester2K pointed out it occurs about 3 times in the registry. I have a feeling it will also occur multiple times for each user.
