Missing Gb on Hard Drive

I recently purchases a 40Gb secand hand hard drive, when I installed it with windows xp home i find that there is approx 2.7b of hard drive unaccounted for. Any ideas n how to access this?

Do you mean that the disk is 37.3GB? If so, that is correct for 40GB when formatted.

It all has to do with two ways of counting megabytes / gigabytes.

1000 mb = 1GB


1024mb = 1gb
