After two years working perfectly my cd and cdr drives have vanished. Although they light up they are not recognised on boot up. I have removed and reconnected the cables 50 times but cannot think of what has gone wrong.
Any help very welcome.

Have you installed any new cdr software? If you are using WinXP and have installed an early version of Easy CDcreator 5 this can do it.

Many thanks for help.
They don't exist in BIOS or Device Manager. I have not installed any software on Win 98.
Am I going mad?

They worked again after I replaced the connecting cable
