missing address bar

I have been using broadband successfully for a few days now with access thru' internet explorer, however the address bar now seems to have gone from the IE screen leaving just the toolbar above where it should be.I'm sure this must be a trivial thing to put right but I can't see how. help

View menu>toolbars>make sure address toolbar is ticked, if not, select it....TT

I dont know which version of IE but I'm using xp
I did try uninstalling/installing but no joy

With a full XP disc not a recover disc

Right click on the toolbar. Untick lock the toolbar. Left click and keeping the button pressed drag down and drag to the left.

Clue was when you said both were already ticked.
