Missing 10gb

  chriscross72 22:48 04 Nov 04

I recently 'partitioned' my 40 gb hard drive using acronis partition expert
Now my hard drive is only showing a capacity of 27gb with 11gb used
I cannot find the other 10gb although various things state the hard drive is 37gb (click 'my computer' then 'manage' then 'disc management)this shows the hard drive is 37gb but only has a capacity of 27gb
Can anyone tell me where the 10gb has gone and how I can get it back....I've tried fdisk and everything else I know HELP please

Thanks : ))

partitioning is breaking the drive into smaller sub sections. if you right click on the drive and one of the options in there will eventually lead to a format option to utilise the other 10 gb.

Sorry but I cant remember what menu this is in when you right click on it.

you need to format the 10gb of space

right click My Computer, select manage

Now click on disc management, you will now see your 10gb of space. Right click on it and select format

I assume you have XP
