misbehaving monitor I think

My pc runs fine for a while, (not yet timed it) then click and the monitor drops into standby mode. The HDD light is permanantly lit and the only way to get things back is to shut down using the power button and reboot to what appears to be an ok computer, until it happens again.
I'm wondering if it is either the monitor its self or the graphics card.
Anyone come across this or have any ideas.

Have you checked your Power settings in Control Panel - monitor may have accidentally been set to go into standby mode.

  damnthispc 19:27 11 Mar 08

Technotiger
It was set to 20 mins, now set to never. I'll wait and see what happens and report back if it re-occurs

  Technotiger 19:31 11 Mar 08

OK - feedback is always appreciated.

  Technotiger 20:35 11 Mar 08

If it has been OK for over an hour now, maybe I was right first time!

Cheers.

Yup it looks like that was the problem, although i get the impression my son is after a bigger and TFT monitor by the way he was going on, maybe a little tinkering by teenage fingers
thanks any way
