Minimum Specs but game doesn't work

  PJonce 15:15 16 Mar 06

I have purchased a game and my computer meets the minimum specification required by the game but on trying to launch, the computer crashes!

Little more info might help, Name of game, Operating system, specs of PC, what else is running while trying to launch game.

info on game would be helpful as requested by SANTOS7

also i never trust what is on a game when it comes to minimum specs. i always look at min. spec and recommended spec and aim somewhere in the middle, as they may have tested it on a system that ran on the min. spec but it would be different to 99.9999999999% of systems out there.

How close is your pc to the recommended spec?
I won't buy a game unless my system meets or exceeds the recommended specs.

Do you have the latest drivers for your mobo and graphics card?

Some people used to say take the min spec and then double it, but that's now tricky with processor speeds reaching a plateau, and graphics cards becoming a specialist subject in their own right.

Computer - Systemax note/laptop 1.8GHz AMD Athlon 64,1.0GB Ram,ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 with latest omega driver, Windows XP and turning off the usual firewall, virus programs doesn't help.
The game in question is Bloodrayne 2. However, and this appears even more strange, is that Unreal Tournament 2003 causes the computer to crash, whereas Unreal Tournament 2004 works without any problems at all! i.e. the newer game works, the older one doesn't

No problem. Links with ; (and some other characters) won't post properly here. You need to go to click here to convert them. Especially beware Symantec links. The MS Knowledge Base has recently reformatted theirs so they now work properly.

Used patch for unreal tournament 2003 and it now seems to work, no problem.

However, the original question remains, my latest game, bloodrayne 2 doesn't work even though my computer more than meets the minimum specifications listed.
