What is the minimum spec for 512k broadband internet connection. Will it work on a 200Mhz Pentium with 96Mb RAM and connected through a 10Mb networking card.

even very old PC with Windows 3.11.

The problem is with the "Free USB" modem supplied by most providers. It put a big resource request to PCs.

For old PC, the best option's to use an Ethernet connection based modem or One (multiport) ASDL router and connect to PC via Ethernet (network/lan) connection port. This way, router will do all donkey work, so anyold PC will do the job nicely.

A four port ASDL modem router cost £30.54 click here (you just throw away modem provided by the broadband supplier and use this one instead).

Your PC already has 10mb network connecion card, just connect router to PC through this and you are done).

A friend of mine runs 512 broadband with a Cyrix 200 using a Alcatel USB modem on Win ME no problems.
