If you try and run XP (of either flavour), on a 233MHz 128MB system, you'll be forever wondering if anything at all is happening.

Note the date on that MS page - I think they've probably gotten a tad more realistic now.

I run it on an old 336 Mhz IBM Laptop.

Its go-able, but a bit slow.

It's now around eight years since XP's introduction - minimum specifications would probably prove to be somewhat of a surprise these days.

When I first installed XP Pro, I had a 400MHz Celeron CPU and either 128 or 256MB of RAM.

I survived without any major issues and, what's more, I'm still using XP Pro despite all the upgrading over the years.

It's the most stable and reliable OS I've used since Window 3.1 and that includes every flavour apart from ME and 2000; I moved straight from Windows 98SE to XP Pro.

I installed xp pro on w98 dell dimension xps t500 with memory 320. working fine. my pc 9 years old. also office 2003 pro upgraded to 2007. okay not exactly uptodate but acceptable. all things being equal can last couple of more years if I don't get fed up before then since slows down sometimes. no gaming though. will probably wait for w7 & buy new bypassing vista?
