i recentrly bought a casio ctk-691 midi keyboard i bought the midi cables so that i can transfer the music files i made on the keyboard but i conected it to my computer using the game port but its doesnt get recognised my os is windows xp pro

It won't be `recognised` as new hardware as such, you just need some software to transfer the MIDI files. As long as Gameport and MPU401 shows up in your Device Manager (StartMenu/Run type devmgmt.msc, look under Sound Video and Game Controllers) then you should be able communicate via MIDI.
