Midentity - what is this?

  dobbin 11:19 13 Dec 06

My computer has slowed up dramatically and in looking in task manager I see there are three programmes called 'Midentity' running which are using up huge amounts of CPU. Does anyone know what they are or what they are doing?
I ran Ad-aware and it has not picked them up and everything seems to run ok when I stop them.

Hi, I don't know if this helps at all, but

PS - I think you could quite safely delete all reference to them on your pc.

Thanks for that Technotiger. I found the culprit I think - its 'the Phone Book Deskbar' which I downloaded recently. I found it quite useful but I have now removed it and 'Midentity' seems to have vanished with it.

Grrreat, thanks for the feedback.

I have just had precisely the same problem. The computor seemingly continuously doing something in the back ground. I recently downloaded the phone book and will now delete it based on your discovery. Many thanks
