Microsoft"SP2" and Dragon Nat.Speaking Ver.6

I have tried to install Scansoft's Dragon Naturally Speaking Preferred Version 6(purchased 2 years ago from PC World at a cost of £130) onto my new computer. It worked fine on my old machine .My new computer has Service Pack 2 installed and Scansoft say that Service Pack 2 does not support this version of Dragon software (SP2 also does not support several other types of software). Has PC Advisor reader come up with a method of overcoming this problem since I have this expensive program which I cannot use.
SP2 supports(the new) Version 8 but if I buy this(which I am very loathe to do)how do I know that the same situation won't arise in say 2-3 years time?
