Microsoft Works freezes

  Kernow999 00:22 06 Mar 03

Recently saved Works documents will not open without freezing the computer. Got an error message along the lines of "dangerously low memory space" although the Hard-drive is nowhere near full. Any ideas as to why it would play-up? Thanks

Hard drive wouldnt be the problem here. Memory would be. How much RAM do you have and how much is available?

What operating system are you using?

How big are the files you are trying to open?

"Using 98 Second edition. Had no problem with the files until recently. They are not big items by any means"

"128.0MB RAM with 49% free"

Memory is "ok" but just to rule it out. Close down everything that you do not need. To do this...

Press Ctrl - Alt - Delete

"End Task" on everything within that window apart from "Explorer" and "systray".

Now try to open those documents...

p.s. Thanks for the email, first one today ;-) but its best if you post answers on the forum so other can see.
