You've managed to save your template as the default option. Probably the quickest way is to save a "blank" template as follows:

When you open a new blank document

On the File menu, click Save As.
Click Template.
The Save As Template dialog box appears.

Type a name for the template.
For example, type MyTemplate.

Select the Use this template for new Word Processor documents check box.
Click OK.

"whenever i open a new blank document a previously set up template always appears so i have to delete that before starting a new document"

so I assumed you were able to start a new document.

So try this - as before File menu and click Save As

Click Template and on the new box click Default

At the bottom click Reset
