My daughter has microsoft Works on her new pc. I use microsoft Word. She copied a CV onto a disc using Works for me to print out but when I open from disc it is just a jumble of squares ect no original text. Is there any way this can be changed to Word. Or do I have to have Works on my PC.
If so, is there any freeware Microsoft Works

Just open the document in Works again, then open the file menu, press "Save as", change the file format to "Word 97-2003" using the arrow below where you type a document name, give it a new name, and bingo, it is now in Word format.

Your daughter will need to save it as Rich Text (RTF) if possible and then MSWord will open it.

click here and there may be a converter available.

The Belarussian Mafia.
It has worked. Thanks everyone for your help.
Just one question still, can you do the same with it already on the disc

No you need to reopen in Works then resave as above

Yes, with the correct filters. That's why I asked about the versions of Word and Works.
