Microsoft warning

I can't remember what I have downloaded on my laptop but since then I have now a Microsft screen that prompt me for a password (no need to enter one, just click ok) and is now telling me that I have an unauthorised version of Windows. This is not possible because the laptop was purchased new from Siemens and Windows came with it as part of the package. How do I disable the various warnings? please

Following johnnyrocker's link (above) I found I had accepted 'Windows Genuine Advantage Notification' (KB 905474 : version 1.5.0540.0) on 25/7. It was listed along with other Microsoft updates. Trying to delete it, via 'Add/Remove ...' I found I couldn't. My version appears genuine - links took me to the MS webpage.
I use IE and OE, not AOL, with the full Kerio firewall - but I'm now a bit concerned! Should I be?
