microsoft visual basic

I have just installed Office 2003 and have had problems with conflicting Acrobat add-ins that I have attempted to resolve by changing file extensions (following microsoft instructions). That problem appears to have gone away but then I got an error message relating to disabling Macros - that too has gone but has been replaced by an error message:

Microsoft Visual Basic

Compile error in hidden module: Auto Exec

this appears at start and close of Word and Excel

I have tried to fix using the repair function but to no avail.

Check to make sure you do not have any folders relating to either Word or Excel that have a Hidden Attribute. To do this right click the folder and check that Hidden is not ticked.

Which folders and at what level?

However, things have moved on without any effort on my part:

Word - when I reopened just now, I got a message relating to the Adobe add-ins with an option to disable which I clicked and that programme now opens and closes without any error messages.

Excel - still get the Microsoft Visual Basic error message but:

on opening - compile error in hidden module: Autoexec new

on closing - module is: Distmon

That appears to have fixed the problem - thank you!
