microsoft update problem

hi i had to do a xp repair, everything went ok but now i cannot get into the update site i get a box saying "the requested lookup key was not found in any active activation context" any help please

you said it "repair" you cant expect 100% perfect
format - install you expect 100% perfect.

You'll need to install manually a SERVICE PACK. If your disc had SP1 then google for microsoft SP2 for XP.

Daft question is it just the update site or other websites aswell using IE.Unsure if your posting from the affected machine via IE or another browser.
By doing the repair it may of overwritten the latest IE on your machine hence the error.

If Service Pack 3 is loaded you have not done a Repair. As it would remove all Windows Updates and you would have to download them all and reload them

I suggest you try doing another repair using the Operating System CD not a Restore CD
