Microsoft RED stop circle in little window, then..

Does anyone out there know what to do with a message window which has a red circle with a white cross thro' it and an OK tab underneath. I click ok then get a yellow triangle warning sign complete with '!' mark. I get this in connection with dialup, especially when i have one or two explorer ie. webpages, opened (offline) and I attempt to dialup. I cannot get a dialup until either i clear all pages and/or turn off the machine. cheers, tim parker (Windows 98 and Pentium2 machine). PS. Have been driven nuts with this as it has not cleared for about 1 yr. and my dialup, when i get thro' has suffered with patchy connections - when i do actually get thro'- sometimes dialup is real slow or cuts out.

This seems very suspicious activity to me. Have you scanned the system recently for nasties such as spyware as well as viruses?

Personally I have never encountered what you describe but maybe others here have. Lets wait and see.
