i have microsoft office 2003 on one pc and need to put it on to another pc bu my disc is corrupt and wont load is there a way i can copy it from the pc that has it in already

You may install Microsoft Office on two machines under the terms of your license. Originally Microsoft made this change to the license agreement in reponse to the growing number of home-users who used both a laptop and a PC.

Unfortunately you can't transfer the software from one computer to another, you must use the original installation CD. If its corrupted you're out of luck - you'll either need to buy another copy or use the free software from johnnyrocker's link.

In answer to your question, yes, it can work with MS Word files, and MS Word will open Open Office files.
