Microsoft .NET Framework

Windows Update wants me to install a 23.12MB XP Update called Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1
None of the MS links tells me what's in it for me as a user. Anyone out there know?

if 'roi' means return on investment then you wont get any if you're a normal user. .net is simply a means of getting different components of business systems to work with each other and therefore has no current relevance to home users. it will do in future though, but by then it will ship as standard with windows.

the .Net framework will currently only be of use to developers.

In fairness to Microsoft it does say that very clearly on the Windows update site.
