When using Hibernation it does not always switch off can this be a fault or can it be solved?

Control Panel/Power Options/Hibernate Tab/ Make sure "Enable hibernate" box is ticked. (Sorry if you have already done this)

Also, ensure that your screen saver is not a 3D screen saver or a picture slide-show screen saver.

These are known to prevent PCs/laptops from going into hibernation.
