Microsoft Backup from WIndows 9x, under XP

I am expecting to upgrade soon from WinME to WinXP. I have a large number old backups (.QICs) created using Microsoft Backup from Windows 98 (not the same as Backup in XP).

I still have the Win98 CD with Backup on it. Does anyone know if the 98 version of Backup will install and run OK under XP?

regarding an install of the older backup In short the answer is "no", the XP "ntbackup.exe" version 5 is suited for Windows2000 and XP (win98 uses fat16 or fat32 whereas XP normally uses NTFS) although it should be able to read if the details are not compressed, it is not even installed by default in the XP Home edition although it is on the CD and can be added later.
as far as reading an older .qic file I have had a variety of results for some it worked, for most it could not be read, if you can could you not restore them onto a cd from the win98 for reading and then you might be able to clean out what you do not really want.
