Could this have caused my son's computer to re-set itself to the initial manufacturers settings? Or perhaps a virus. None has been found though and has been ok after going back to a restore point before running MS AS

I shoudn't think so,i have it installed on my PC and none of my settings changed?.Maybe someone else here can advise,their a good bunch :-)

I would be surprised if MS AS was to blame, but maybe a quick look in their newsgroup would help.
