Microphone causing problems?

  Fletten 18:21 22 Mar 08

I have been having trouble with using the microphone with Live Messenger, it seems that after about 5mins the microphone seems to cause, either a minor power failure or some sort of interference with the Ethernet connection, causing my router to lose power but not go off completely and lose connection. I have checked my Ethernet and sound connections they are integrated on the motherboard so they both plug in to the same cluster and I presume they share power in that part of the board, am I right? would fitting a seperate sound card help? I think perhaps it might.
I lose internet connection every time, this has only showed since I have tried to use the microphone, without it everything is fine.

My motherboard is a GIGABYTE GA-7N400 Pro2 with a NVIDIA nFORCE2 Chipset, I am running Windows XP Home.
Any idea's?
