Mickey Mouse Icons

For some reason my 'My Computer' icon and one or two others has turned into a Disney Character (Goofy, in fact) which I don't want.

So I changed the theme to standard Windows XP and it returns to normal.

However, after a few minutes the desktop refreshes and it goes back to Goofy again.

I did used to have a disney theme installed about a year ago but deleted it from my system.

Does anyone know how to keep the theme normal?

I have checked for spyware, viruses etc., but all is clear.

After correcting the icons as explained above, I reboot.

All is perfect until about 10 seconds into the desktop appearing, then the Disney Icons appear again. This is an odd one.

What did you use for checking for Spyware etc.?

Ad-aware 6.0 with latest update and Pest Patrol.

Try a scan with Spybot S&D (being mentioned a lot today) and also scan with "a squared" click here

Thanks, I will give it a try.

I'm now running 'a Squared' software and, so far, it's found 10 pieces of malware.

Hopefully this may cure the problem, we'll see.

It has several partitons and drives to scan.

Crickey €dstowe, I'm now up to 20 Malware, who'd have thought ...

I've cleared them all up but, unfortunately, the problem still exists.

The 'my computer' icon, recycle bin and network places all have the incorrect icon.

I moved the Disney theme files to a different directory and now I just get the standard vanilla MS icons, as the correct icon cannot be found.

They all return OK when I choose another theme and go back to the Windows XP theme but disappear on a reboot or after a screen refresh.

Any ideas anyone?
