I switched M'soft Messenger off a while ago. Now it's back and I've forgotten how to turn it off. (Using XP Home.) Would be grateful for how-to!

Start>>Control Panel>>Admin Tools>>Services the scroll down till you see Messenger then highlight then on the left side click Stop.

Polonius again. I don't get 'Admin Tools' in 'Control Panel', so can't find 'Services' and 'Messenger' from there! Please try again!

Or try Start>Control Panel>Performance and Maintenance>Administrative Tools>Services then scroll down in right pane to Messenger
