memory upgrade problem

  gazza38 17:30 01 Jan 05

I have just bought a new PC,it only has 512mb of DDR3200 installed and i need more.I tried crucial but my motherboard and PC model are not listed.
Can anyone please help?
Advent T11 computer
intel 550 (3400)
Motherboard micro-star ms-7046

The current ram has a CL3 rating, should I buy more of the same or faster CL2,or can they be mixed.I have four slots for ram.I like to do video editing,so am looking for two sticks of 512mb,to make a total of 1.5gb.

if you know you have pc3200 installed just get another 512 pc3200. normal type will be cl3 and it will probablly say on the box 100% compatable. It will cost about £65.

on crucial, select your manufacturer, then there is a link for their pc scanner that tells you exactly which ram to buy

As I said, the advent T11 is not on the list, nor is the ms-7046 motherboard.
Thanks for your reply.

Use the Crucial System Scanner that should tell you exactly what you need.

Memory is fairly compatible, don't get too hang up on the fact your M/Board is not listed by Crucial a standard stick of 512MB PC3200 should suit just fine. Geil memory is another company I can highly recommend. Just remember that if mixing memory speeds the overall performance will be restricted to the slower speed.
