memory upgrade gone wrong

  t_ 15:03 29 Apr 04

Tried upgrading from 256mb RAM to 512 by buying a new 256mb. PC starts up fine and is quicker but then clicks and restarts over and over again. Tried swapping them around and it runs fine with the new RAM on its own. System max is 768mb. Please help.

Try running a memory diagnostic tool with both the memory modules installed - click here to get the tool. It can take a LONG time to complete.

Make sure all your cables are secure inside the case & seat the main power cable firmly & fully into it's slot.

The second memory slot may be damaged & so making an insufficient/intermittent connection.

When you post again please provide your OS, type of memory, PSU power output, & mobo make & model.
