Hi I need some advice on upgrading the memory for my Dell Dimension 1100 (it originally came with Windows XP and 256mb ram) Current Spec Is Windows 7 (32 bit) 2 GB ram N Vidia GeForce 6200 256 mb ram CPU Celeron 2.53 GHz I have used Crucial Scan and it says I have the maximum ram installed-2x1GB But the program SIW says I can have a maximum of 4 GB of ram And I have read elsewere that my CPU won't run 64 bit Can anyone advise me if it is possible to use 4Gb of ram. I can reinstall Windows 7 as 64 bit if needed. Regards

You're wasting time & money...

In order to run 64bit OS ,you'll need to change your CPU to one of the EM64T P4 processors which your motherboard chipset won't support and even if you can put more than 2Gb RAM (these old RAM are expensive to get nowadays) in there, 32bit windows can't see all of them.

Conclusion: Save up and spend the money to get a new machine.
