I have tried to upgrade the computers memory, without any success.
purchuased 2x1GB pc2 6400 OCZ memory, but it just wouldn't work. The motherboard is Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe, and has 2x512 MB pc2 7200 memory installed. I know that the memory can't be mixed(different clock speed), but it would not work with only the two 1GB pc 6400 memory.
Although as far as I could see the motherboard should take only pc2 6400 memory, but the manufacturer (MESH) installed pc2 7200 meory modules.
All this on Windows XP Home SP2.

any solution?

whre did you buy the memory?

If the new memory is high density ram and not bought from crucial, you could be cream crackered.

OCZ Platinium

I'm not an expert on Ram but I would suspect that Mesh has altered something in the bios to allow the pc2 7200 to work on your system.

Are there any memory speed or voltage options in the bios?

You will have to check that it matches your new Ram (but then you old ram will probably not work.)

There have been a number of reported issues with OCZ memory and Asus motherboards hence I steer clear, but a lot of what I read suggested checking the voltage requirements of the RAM (older Asus boards couldnt provide high enough voltage) and also a number of people managed to get it working by installing one strip at a time and rechecking bios settings after each installation - the OCZ forum above covers it..
