My memory stick is not showing in My Computer, and so I cannot access it.
Last time this happenned, I removed the stick, closed and powered down the PC and on reinserting the stick and re-booting, it reappeared. No success this time. (I have previously had similar problems with the card reader dissapearing)
Any help would be welcomed.

Windows XP SP2. USB stick

try uninstalling the drivers from device manager in control panel. And then plug in your usb stick so that windows recognises it as a new device again and installs its drivers afresh. If this fails then try plugging in the stick on a different USB slot.

Thanks Chirag.
Could you please supply further info on how to uninstallthe drivers. How would I reinstall them?I can only access device manager via systems on the control panel, and i cannot identify which device is the stick. Is it likely to be the "Mass USB device"?
Thanks £dstowe, --sensible tip, but not relevant in this case.
Sorry for delay in response.

Refresh USB Ports
Use Drive clean up to remove USB device drive info from the registry
or
In device manager Uninstall EVERYTHING under the heading USB,
reboot the PC let XP find and install new hardware.
Your equipment should now be recognised.

Thanks, Fruitbat.
Before I continue, does that include uninstalling USB root hub?

Bump
I did uninstall mass USB device,(but not USB root hub.) That only removed my inbuilt card reader and reinstalled it on reboot.

Uninstall EVERYTHING under the heading USB

Thanks for coming back, Fruitbat.
I have now uninstalled everything, and rebooted, but the device is still not showing up in My Computer and in device manager, under USB, just the same items as before are shown.
Should the orange light on the stick be lit up,at all times when plugged in, as it is not showing at the moment, regardless of which USB socket it is placed in.
