I recently bought a 1GB Memory Stick to act as backup, but there were no instructions on how to use it, can anyone help please.

Assumming you have XP you just plug it in to a USB port and it will appear as a removeable drive. And you just cut and paste or drag and drop what you want on to it.

Stick it in a USB port, it will show up in My Computer. Drag any files you want to back up on to it. Put the memory stick somewhere safe.

But I wouldn't use a USB stick as your only backup device - 1GB isn't much memory, for starters. A DVD holds more data; and the best back-up devices are (I think) external hard drives.

and when removing the memory stick, always rememeber to click on the 'safely remove hardware' icon (green arrow indicator bottom right hand corner of screen (for me anyway)).

"and when removing the memory stick, always rememeber to click on the 'safely remove hardware'"

Which, if you're using XP, is unnecessary. You can simply unplug the USB memory stick when you've finished using it.
