Memory problem

  dcnewton 19:52 25 Mar 08

My dual channel memory has started running at single channel, it was working fine but now isn't,

the memory in crucial (and is new as the system kept crashing and i thought it was the memory) and is matched to the MB, the MB is a Gigabyte (GA8I945G PRO). memory is DDR2-pc5300.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Does it also run in single-channel when you slot in the old memory?

Can you be a bit more specific about the crashes? G

The old memory ran at dual channel.

The crashes were blue screens with the code that related to bad memory but on some forums people had found it to be the motherboard, which i really hope it isn't.

..have you tried re-seating it?

Not yet, will try that this morning.

good point though.

Also make sure to place them in the correct slots - if it's 2 modules they'd go in slot-1 & slot-3 (or 2 & 4). See this dual-channel config for your motherboard click here (taken from the PDF manual). G
